Tamera Renee Williams, now 47 (born March 18, 1979), is wanted for the September 2018 murder of her boyfriend, David Carter, 39, a single father living at the Gale Gardens Apartments in Melvindale, Michigan. The two had been dating for about six months. Carter spoke by phone with his sister on the night of Saturday, September 29, 2018; he failed to report for work the next day and did not contact his family, who filed a missing-person report on Tuesday, October 2, after entering his apartment and finding blood and an apparent bullet hole. On October 1, 2018, a road crew discovered a bag containing human remains along I-75 near Findlay, Ohio; over the following two weeks, additional bags containing Carter's dismembered remains were recovered along the same highway corridor, and a coroner determined he died of a gunshot wound to the head. Williams was arrested and questioned as a suspect on October 5, 2018, but was released after 72 hours when investigators lacked sufficient evidence to file charges at that time. She is described as 5'5", approximately 190 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair, and a large rose tattoo running from her left shoulder down her arm; she also goes by "Tammy," "Renee," and "Tamera Hood."
On December 20, 2018, the 24th District Court in Wayne County, Michigan, issued a felony warrant charging Williams with first-degree murder, disinterment/dismemberment of a body, tampering with evidence, and a felony firearm violation; by that time she could not be located. Investigators traced her to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in mid-October 2018, where she withdrew cash and had a meal, then by train to New York, where she checked into a hotel in Brooklyn before her trail went cold; she has not been seen or heard from since. The Melvindale Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force for the Eastern District of Michigan lead the investigation, which was elevated to Major Fugitive status in 2021 and featured on "America's Most Wanted," "In Pursuit with John Walsh," and Netflix's "Unsolved Mysteries" (2022). On September 26, 2023, the U.S. Marshals added Williams to its 15 Most Wanted Fugitives list and raised the reward to $25,000; she remains on that list and has not been publicly reported as located as of August 2026. She should be considered armed and dangerous, as the firearm used has not been recovered.
