Enrique Toledo, then 54, of Valrico, Florida, is wanted in connection with the shooting death of his wife, 37-year-old Heather Toledo, inside their home in the 2600 block of Freeland Drive in Valrico on the evening of July 3, 2022. Deputies were called after a verbal altercation turned violent; one of the couple's children reportedly witnessed the shooting while the other two children were in a nearby room, and Toledo called 911 himself to report it. He was arrested and later released on $150,000 bail with electronic ankle monitoring. On December 15, 2022, hours before a scheduled hearing on whether his bail would be revoked for violating a no-contact order regarding his children, Toledo cut off the monitor and fled; he has not been located since.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigating agency, with the U.S. Marshals Service and Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay assisting. A warrant was issued December 15, 2022, charging Toledo with Murder in the First Degree (Premeditated, Firearm) and Failure to Appear/Violation of Pre-Trial Release Conditions (Case #22-517218; Warrants #22310028 and #22311459). Toledo formerly owned and operated a Brandon-area assisted living facility, A Place to Grow, LLC, which is separately the subject of a $12.5 million civil wrongful-death judgment following a former resident's 2021 death; the plaintiff's attorney has also alleged Toledo filed a falsified insurance document with the state for that facility. As of the most recent reporting, Toledo remains at large. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477) or report online; a cash reward is offered.
