Missing or Unidentified Person
On March 29, 2011, partial skeletal remains of an adult male of undetermined race or ethnicity were discovered in an old shed next to a residence in Hayes, Gloucester County, Virginia. The remains were highly decomposed and incomplete, lacking the torso, one or more limbs, and one or both hands, which prevented estimations of height, weight, age range, hair color, eye color, or other physical descriptors. Forensic analysis estimated the year of death as 2008, resulting in a postmortem interval of about three years. No clothing, accessories, distinctive features, medical history, or biometric data such as DNA, fingerprints, or dental records were associated with the case. Despite entry into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs #UP8777) on May 19, 2011, the individual remains unidentified as of January 2026, with no matched missing persons reports or further developments.
