Edgardo Feralin Dormido, Jr., born in the Philippines, worked as a caregiver for a family in Manhattan Beach, California, where he allegedly molested two victims living in the home, including a 9-year-old girl. He was fired on July 10, 2015, after the family was notified of the incidents. According to court filings cited by news reporting, Dormido then stayed with a relative to hide from police before fleeing the country. On October 9, 2015, prosecutors in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, charged Dormido with five felony counts: two counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years old or younger, one count of forcible lewd act upon a child, and two counts of lewd act upon a child.
Court documents state Dormido used a Philippine passport to fly from Los Angeles International Airport to Taipei, Taiwan, on July 13, 2015, then on to Manila, Philippines, where he is believed to continue residing. A 2022 law-enforcement inquiry found Dormido employed as a janitor at Bago City College in Negros Occidental, Philippines. On June 22, 2022, the United States District Court, Central District of California, charged Dormido federally with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest. The FBI's Los Angeles Field Office, working with the Manhattan Beach Police Department, leads the fugitive investigation. Dormido is described as an Asian/Pacific Islander male, 5'4", 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes; he is believed to still have family members in the Los Angeles area.
