Agency:NCOUC - Group 3
Case Type:Missing or Unidentified Person
Case Details:Nancy Lorraine Robinson, age 24 at disappearance; also known as Nancy Sills or Nancy Winker, and her husband James Ezra Robinson, vanished from their caretaker positions at Winters Creek Equestrian Ranch in Washoe Valley, Nevada. They were last reliably seen on March 6, 1982. Evidence discovered on March 8 indicated a violent struggle with large amounts of blood in their living quarters, signs of forced entry, and some missing items (expensive saddles and jewelry). Their truck was later found abandoned on Highway 50 (heading toward Lake Tahoe) with a flat tire, containing blood and portions of the missing items. Guns were present and unfired. Three months earlier, the ranch’s main house sustained major damage in a suspected arson fire; the couple had been scheduled for polygraph examinations regarding it but disappeared beforehand. No one has been charged in either the fire or the disappearances. Foul play is suspected due to the blood evidence and circumstances. No verified sightings, activity on Social Security numbers, or further public developments have occurred since 1982.
