Between 1997 and 2000, Moller was entrusted with caring for his female victim on almost a weekly basis while she was between the ages of 10 and 14, and gave her drugs and/or alcohol prior to molesting her. On December 18, 2002, Moller was convicted of two counts of lewd act upon a child and released on bail pending sentencing. He failed to appear for that sentencing hearing on March 18, 2003, and was sentenced in absentia to ten years in state prison; a felony bench warrant was issued for him the following day on a failure-to-appear charge.
On April 24, 2003, the United States District Court, Central District of California, issued a federal arrest warrant charging Moller with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. The FBI's Los Angeles Field Office leads the fugitive investigation.
