Blanca Elisa Roberson, known by her middle name Elisa, was 13 years old and living with her family at 431 S. Whitney Street in Aransas Pass, Texas, when she disappeared on the evening of Sunday, August 6, 1989. Between approximately 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., Elisa left home to walk to Kieberger Elementary School to meet a friend so the two could walk together to the friend's home in the 200 block of South 11th Street. A witness in the 500 block of Greenwood, at the corner of South Whitney, spoke briefly with Elisa before she continued walking westbound. She never arrived at the school.
When the friend went looking for her and could not find her, she and her father searched the area before contacting Elisa's family. Elisa's mother, Marina, reported her missing to the Aransas Pass Police Department that night, and an extensive search was launched. Search dogs tracked Elisa's scent to the area of the elementary school, where the trail ended near the intersection of Goodnight Avenue and South 8th Street, with no further trace found. Elisa was last seen wearing a light blue Mickey Mouse T-shirt, dark blue culotte shorts, and sneakers. She is Hispanic, born in Nicaragua, 5'0" tall, 120 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, pierced ears, a scar on her right knee, and a three-inch circular scar on her left thigh.
In 2016, a tip was reported that human remains might be on the families former residence located at 431 South Whitney Street. Detectives conducted interviews and forensic search efforts via a local nonprofit that specializes in search-and-recovery. Evidence was recovered, but hasn't been publicly released. In August 2025, an Idaho probate court declared Elisa legally dead at the request of her family, a status that does not close the criminal investigation. The case remains open and unsolved, and foul play is suspected.
