Missing or Unidentified Person

Larissa Lone Hill, 21, of Manderson, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, was reported missing after she was last seen in Rapid City in early October 2016. On the evening of October 2, 2016, Lone Hill visited her mother on the reservation, then left with her boyfriend and a female friend, reportedly planning to go to Rapid City's Rushmore Mall. The following morning, October 3, 2016, two men Lone Hill knew arrived; she left with them, telling her boyfriend she intended to return to Rapid City, and texted a cousin that she was going to a party with the two men from Pine Ridge. One of the men later told investigators he dropped her off at a party and was not with her afterward. Lone Hill has not been seen or heard from since. In the weeks before her disappearance, she had been asked to leave her sister Carol Piper's Rapid City home after a family member reported seeing her using methamphetamine in the bathroom; her mother and sister both believed she was struggling with drug use at the time. Lone Hill is Native American, a member of the Lakota (Oglala Sioux) Tribe, 5'3"–5'4", 120–130 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes, scars on the left side of her face, and multiple tattoos including the name "Luda" on her knuckles, a paw print on her hand, a bear claw with writing on her wrist, and the words "Mom" and "Lisa."

The Rapid City Police Department is the lead investigating agency, working with the Pennington County Sheriff's Office, the Oglala Sioux Tribal Police, and the FBI. Investigators have publicly stated they believe Lone Hill is deceased and that her body may have been disposed of within roughly a 100-mile radius of Rapid City; the case remains classified as a missing person investigation rather than a homicide, and no suspects have been named or charged. A $5,000 reward, funded through Rapid City's Community Reward Fund, has been offered and periodically renewed for information leading to her location or to the resolution of the case. As of a November 2025 news report, investigators stated no new leads had developed. Her case is documented in NamUs and the South Dakota missing persons registry. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rapid City Police Department at (605) 394-4131 or (605) 394-4134, or to text "RCPD" and the tip to 847411.
