Chancellore Jabez Donaldson, 22, was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store on North Broad Street NE in Rome, Georgia, at approximately 12:42 a.m. on April 19, 2026. Police said many people were nearby when the gunfire erupted; Donaldson was transported to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. Rome Police obtained a felony murder warrant for Chancelor Lamar Crawford, 25, in connection with the shooting. Crawford is also wanted on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tied to a separate, earlier incident, and on a probation violation stemming from prior aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and firearm-possession charges; he additionally failed to appear for an obstruction arraignment scheduled September 4, 2025. He is described as a Black male, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Crawford was originally sought jointly with a second suspect in an unrelated Floyd County homicide, Treveonsay Trejion Burge, though Burge was captured in Cleveland County, North Carolina on August 9, 2026; Crawford remains at large. The Floyd County Sheriff's Office, Rome Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force are jointly searching for him and believe he may be hiding in the metro Atlanta area or elsewhere in northwest Georgia. He is considered armed and dangerous, and the public is warned not to approach him. A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his arrest.
