Lynn Lynette Bush (née Knievel), 26, of Casper, Wyoming, was reported missing by her husband, David Labon Bush, on December 9, 1990. He told police he had last seen her the previous day, December 8, when she drove to the Buttrey's grocery store (later a Sav-A-Lot) at 12th Street and Beverly in Casper; a receipt recovered from her vehicle showed a purchase there at 5:30 p.m. David Bush said that the next day he found her 1985 Ford F-150 pickup truck, bearing vanity plates reading "1T-BUSH," in the store's parking lot with the driver's door ajar, groceries still in the truck bed, and the keys on the ground nearby. Lynn was last seen wearing a knee-length pink nylon winter coat, a pastel blue sweatshirt, acid-washed blue jeans, and pink sneakers, and was wearing a wedding band and a Black Hills gold engagement ring. She and her husband lived in the area of 17th Street and South McKinley Street in Casper with their two-year-old daughter. David Bush told police he delayed reporting his wife missing because he believed she had left him voluntarily.
The Casper Police Department led the investigation. Officers searched the pickup truck within days of the disappearance and recovered evidence, including apparent bloodstains, that was preserved for later testing. In July 2006, following DNA analysis that matched blood recovered from the truck and from a vodka bottle in the Bush residence to Lynn, prosecutors charged David Bush with first-degree murder; on March 20, 2007, a Natrona County jury convicted him instead of second-degree murder after a 12-day trial, and he was sentenced to 45 years to life. Bush has maintained his innocence and unsuccessfully appealed the conviction, including to the Wyoming Supreme Court in 2008 and the Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2012. Lynn's remains have never been recovered, and foul play is suspected. She was declared legally dead in 1999. The case is catalogued with NamUs as MP14579.
