Richard Francis Whitecalf, also known as Rick Whitecalf, was 71 years old and living in Rapid City, South Dakota, when he was last seen on July 13, 2004. Whitecalf was elderly, had limited mobility, and was almost blind. Public case information indicates he left Rapid City on foot, reportedly intending to walk to his home in Pine Ridge, South Dakota — a distance of more than 100 miles. He is described as an American Indian/Alaska Native male, 5'6" tall, approximately 150 pounds, with gray or partially gray hair and brown eyes. No clothing description or personal effects have been published. He was reported missing to the Rapid City Police Department, which filed the report on July 20, 2004, one week after he was last seen.
