Verdell James Brown Bull, 51, of Kyle, South Dakota, was last seen in the Memorial Park area of Rapid City, South Dakota, on May 3, 2021. He was last seen together with Susan Lacee Fast Eagle, 30, of Rapid City, who was last seen at the same place and time; neither has been heard from since. Fast Eagle's husband reported that she felt sick that day and that he left to buy her food, returning to find her gone. No description of a suspect, or of any other witness to Brown Bull's disappearance, has been publicly released, and no clothing or personal-effects description has been published. Fast Eagle was reported missing by relatives on May 13, 2021; the date Brown Bull was reported missing has not been published. Brown Bull is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.
The disappearances of Brown Bull and Fast Eagle are being investigated jointly by the Pine Ridge Oglala Sioux Tribal Police Department and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, with assistance from the Rapid City Police Department. In September 2021, the Rapid City Police Department announced a $3,000 reward, funded by the Community Reward Fund, for information leading to Fast Eagle's location, and asked that any information on Brown Bull's whereabouts also be reported to police. No persons of interest have been publicly named in either disappearance, and as of the most recent case-file update (February 2026), both remain missing.
