Angela "Sam" Maynahonah Rodriguez, 40, an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, was last seen in mid-March 2012 at Glen's Lounge on SW 11th Street in Lawton, Oklahoma. After being missing for roughly two and a half weeks, her body was found on March 29, 2012, under a bridge and in heavy brush in a rural area of Fox, Oklahoma, in Carter County — approximately 60 miles from where she was last seen.
She was identified through palm prints and tattoos. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation determined the cause of death to be sharp and blunt force trauma to the head, and the case has been classified as a homicide. Rodriguez was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, raised in the Meers area, and attended Elgin Public Schools; she was known to family and friends in the Lawton area for her cooking, card games, reading, and participation in powwows. She was survived by two children.
The case remains open and unsolved. It is investigated jointly by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Carter County Sheriff's Office, and — following the case's later designation as a Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons matter — the BIA Office of Justice Services Missing and Murdered Unit, with BIA Special Agent Vincent Marcellino listed as the assigned agent.
No suspect or person of interest has been publicly named, and no arrest has been reported. The Comanche Nation and the volunteer research group Oklahoma Cold Cases continue to publicize the case, and Rodriguez's family has held vigils seeking new leads.
