Angel Gonzalez (also known as Angel Gonzales, Angel G. Gonzales, and Angel Gonzalez Ramirez), born in Aguada, Puerto Rico — with dates of birth variously given as August 25, 1959, August 15, 1956, and August 25, 1969 — is wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting several young female victims in Newark, New Jersey, between approximately 1998/1999 and 2006. A Grand Jury indicted Gonzalez in 2007 on charges of raping and molesting two children between the ages of 6 and 10; he did not appear for his initial court hearing and has not been located since. In 2009, he was indicted a second time on a charge of raping an 8-year-old girl on Christmas Day. In connection with these allegations, Gonzalez has been charged multiple times in Newark Municipal Court, Newark, New Jersey, with First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, Second Degree Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact, and Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On February 8, 2010, the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, in Newark, issued a federal arrest warrant charging Gonzalez with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. The FBI's Newark Field Office leads the fugitive investigation and is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Gonzalez's arrest and conviction. He is considered an international flight risk and is believed to have ties to Essex County, New Jersey; Aguada, Puerto Rico; and Guarulhos, Brazil; investigators have noted he speaks Portuguese in addition to Spanish and English. In April 2018, the Essex County Sheriff's Fugitive Squad received a tip that Gonzalez had been visiting family in Belleville, New Jersey, but follow-up found no sign of him. Gonzalez is described as brown hair, green or blue eyes, 5'10" to 5'11", approximately 170 pounds, with a tattoo on his right shoulder, and may require corrective lenses.
