David Richard Williams, 33, was last seen on November 11, 1980, at a service station/bar in Creston Junction, Sweetwater County, Wyoming, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Williams had called his wife earlier that day to say he was driving south to check on an oil rig and would be home late. He was last seen leaving the service station as a passenger in a brown or tan Chevrolet Blazer, driven south on Highway 789 by an unidentified white male. He has never been heard from again, and his body has never been located. He is described as a white male, 6'2"–6'3", 250–300 pounds.
Authorities believe the Chevrolet Blazer belonged to David Barker Jr., of Upton, Wyoming, who has been treated as a person of interest in the case; he has not been charged, and no public source reviewed indicates his current status or whereabouts. The case remains open with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. On December 19, 2025, human remains were discovered near an oil and gas well site on Bureau of Land Management land in neighboring Carbon County; Carbon County Sheriff Alex Bakken confirmed the discovery but had not released the remains' age or sex as of this writing, and no identification has been announced. A missing-persons advocate has publicly named Williams as one case the discovery location brings to mind, while cautioning that a previous similar discovery in the area did not turn out to be him.
