Missing or Unidentified Person

On July 2, 2020, campers discovered a human skull on an island in Washington County, Virginia, leading to the investigation of an unidentified individual. The remains, determined to belong to a Black or African American adult female, had an estimated post-mortem interval of approximately 10 years, suggesting the individual passed away around 2010. Due to the condition of the remains, the height, weight, hair color, and eye color could not be determined, and the age range is broadly estimated to be between 18 and 99 years. Authorities continue to seek information to identify the individual and uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.
