Case Details
NCOUC - Group 3
Missing or Unidentified Person
Timothy O. Moen, 47, of Reno, Nevada, was last seen on the morning of February 22, 1995, when his wife saw him leave their home for work at the State of Nevada Human Resources Department shortly after 6 a.m. He did not arrive at work and was not seen or heard from again. Moen was reported wearing a white dress shirt, slacks, and a coat and tie. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 185 to 190 pounds, with sandy blond hair worn short in a military style and green eyes. Several days after he disappeared, his 1993 tan BMW was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Peppermill Hotel (now Peppermill Resort Spa Casino) at 2707 South Virginia Street in Reno; family members said Moen had cashed checks at the casino before he vanished.
Investigators looked into Moen's disappearance in the weeks that followed. Family members told the Reno Gazette-Journal at the time that Moen had been extremely depressed and under significant work-related stress in the weeks before he disappeared, and detectives said they did not suspect foul play. Moen, who had prior experience as a military pilot, has never been located, and his case remains open more than three decades later. Anyone with information about Timothy Moen's whereabouts is encouraged to submit a tip through the National Center for Open and Unsolved Cases. Agency Case #95-42433
